Contest horror has been one of the most popular sub-genre art forms over the last few decades. From the incredible Battle Royale to the underrated gem Would You Rather, the stigma that comes from survival games has captivated horror hounds. In 2019 the film Ready or Not launched the careers of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet. Writer Guy Busick skyrocketed to horror highs after this fresh, fun film, while Samara Weaving became a scream queen sensation. Fans clamored for more and this spring everyone’s favorite unlucky bride is back.

Fresh from the wedding night from hell, Grace finds herself back in the game as the elite of the world kidnap her for a final round of Ready or Not. This time the stakes are even higher, and her kid sister is tagging along. Shortly after the high council arrives from around the world, Grace and Faith attempt to outrun, outfight, and outgun the evil hunters until dawn. Should they survive the night, the world will be theirs.

Ready or Not 2 is everything a sequel should be. More action, more kills, and more comedy flow from the screen from start to finish. Writers Busick and Murphy present a terrific terror tale that perfectly blends horror, action, and comedy, without becoming too slapstick. The directors splatter the screen with blood-soaked kills while shooting a hyper paced plot that makes the two-hour run time seem too short. Weaving once again steals the show while Kathyrn Newton perfectly portrays her bratty kid sister. The entire ensemble plays each role with witty dialogue that goes from hysterical to dramatic while never appearing overly sensational. This super sequel will have horror hounds salivating for a third installment.
