Streets of Vengeance isa retro-styled throwback to the crime thrillers of the 80s, recalling the fantastic Fear City by director Abel Ferrara, which opens with a beautiful young starlet being attacked by a serial killer on the mean streets of San Francisco, being left for dead. Upon her return from the hospital, she puts together a strong group of women to help her seek revenge…
When sought after porn actress, and all out bombshell, Mila Lynn (Delawna McKinney, Cinco De Mayo) tells her male boss she is getting out of the business, much to his disappointment, she thinks that life is behind her, or is it?
Betrayal ensues, friendships are rocked, and trust issues arise as the bodies of porn stars and the like pile up, the killer relentless in his pursuit for victims…
Streets of Vengeance is a low-budget production, being Ragsdale’s and Alba’s first outing, and sadly, it shows here and there. The flick is a little over-bloated, running close to two hours, but, with a little bit of fat trimming, the movie could shine. Another thing that did not quite hit the mark, was the grubbiness of the city/night life, but this can easily be forgiven, as this is not 70s New York on display.
However, these minor issues do not take much away from this gritty feature with a snappy soundtrack, and is a solid first attempt from the duo, who have grown in strength since, with great entries in Slashelorette Party and Murdercise. The movie can be rented or bought on Prime video, and so break out the popcorn, draw the curtains, and watch this flick, which should be seen as part of a movie marathon alongside Slashelorette Party and/or Murdercise
