ohn Carpenter set the standard for sea faring horror with his 1980 classic, The Fog. This fall the team at Mahal Empire bring the Horror-Nation a new tidal tale of terror with their latest film, Cursed Waters. Can the celebrated independent studio once again thrill viewers with a voyage through the deep, dark sea?

A former slave, Captain Bure, is taking his crew of pirates into uncharted territory when they are attacked by an American ship. The sea shanty continues when Tiberius Shaw spins a yarn of horrific events that followed the attack. The surviving members take refuge on a remote island, where they start to disappear one by one. Mutiny begins as the slow realization becomes evident that the beautiful island is actually a playground for darkness.

Once again, the team at Mahal presents an indie film that looks like studio quality. Director Adam Werth puts together a very difficult production with great use of shot selection coupled with realistic attire to bring the audience into the era. Stars, Costas Mandylor, Robert LaSardo, and Michael Pare, shine alongside the rest of the cast, giving the film tons of quality to tread through the runtime. While the plot does veer off the coast from time to time, the overall watch is an enjoyable trip to an island from hell.

Cursed Waters is now available on Amazon Prime.
