Bloody Summer Camp 2: Red Horizon builds upon the lore of the highly praised first film, set in 1986, and picks up eight years later in 1994, Camp Trustfall from the first film is reopened after the horrors that took place in the first movie under the rebranding of Camp Red Horizon
The first year is a success, the film picking up with the kids leaving for home and the counselors left to prep the camp for the next year, that is until they start coming up missing and dead, one by one.
Scream queen goddess Felissa Rose shines as Ms. Cromwell, the gruff supervisor that tries to prevent history from repeating itself alongside Dave Sheridan, reprising his role as Sheriff Wilmore from the first film. These two actors need to be cast in a comedic horror comedy as soon as possible. I have not seen chemistry like this on screen in quite some time. The performances from the actors playing the counselors are quite good as well, working together well as an ensemble cast.
The pacing is tight, the direction is on point and the practical effects are amazing, as expected from Slasher 15 productions.
While both Bloody Summer Camp films are great slasher films, viewers of both will notice growth between the two movies, not only in what is seen on screen, but in aspects such as lighting, scripts, set dressings, etc… Bloody is an example of and indie horror franchise that is only going to improve more and more over time.
Bloody Summer Camp 2 is a great slasher romp for fans of films such as Scream or any other slasher from the mid-1990’s.
