Fans of Leatherface, Chop Top, and ole Grandpa are in for a real treat coming from north of the border. Yes, we said north of the boarder. From Canadian writer/director/producer, Steve Merol, comes a fan film prequel to the immortal, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” The celebrated artist is the winner of three awards at the Los Angeles Academy of Filmmaking, for his horror short “Unseen.” The film will feature: Six-foot seven inch, Scotty Parkin in the role of the iconic Leatherface, two up and coming actresses, Nika Louw and Alicia Jade, and veteran actor John Tague(Lucifer, American Horror Story 1984.)

Jimmy’s friends take him on a countryside trip to help him cope with the recent loss of a loved one. The group are directed to an out of the way farmhouse to pick up supplies for their cabin getaway. Finding cheap beer and snacks becomes the least of their problems as they find themselves stalked down by the famous psychopathic family. The film’s tagline says it all: “If any live through the nightmare, they’ll wish they hadn’t.” Leading audiences to believe, not only can we look forward to some old fashion Texas hunting, but it looks like we will get some quality family time at the dining room table as well.

Merlo’s passion for the Tobe Hooper original is the reason he choose this project to pour his blood and guts into. Not only did the original scare the hell out of the artist but Hooper’s gritty visual cinematic style inspired him to be a filmmaker. Loaded with talent, a great original script, and a terrific proof of concept trailer, “The Sawyer Massacre” is looking like the next big fan film, looking to achieve cult status and praise like other fan film features such as, “Friday the 13th Vengeance.”
