We have all lost a loved one at one point in our lives. We give and we take what memories we have and tuck them in our souls forever. The Gateway is a short horror film written and directed by Charles Chudabala (Ugly Sweater Party and Irrational Fear) and stars Jennifer Nangle (Malvolia: The Queen of Screams). Jessica (Nangle) and Cruz (Chudabala) are best friends hanging out between some Tarot Cards. Things start to unravel and become awkward when Jessica and Cruz start to experience some strange happenings. Not everything is what it seems, even in the company of your best friend.

The film was artistically shot with proper lighting that was felt by each emotion. Nangle was passionate and in tune as Jessica, feeling every single helix of melancholy and remorse. Chudabala is always a force to be reckoned with in films. He proves his craftsmanship for the paranormal genre as devotedly as he has in the horror genre. The Gateway is unquestionably a short film that doesn’t need to prove its worth with gore, guts, or oozy body parts. The film is much deeper than that and not only is it appealing to the eyes, its appealing to the heart and soul with a much bigger meaning in the end.
