Writer/Director Anjelica Hymel presents an original take on old lore with her fantastic web series, The Dark Room. A two-episode creepy claustrophobic crawl leading through a tunnel of the occult. In the first episode, Words with Friends, three young adults put their faith and skepticisms around a Ouija board. Episode two, Recovery, features three young adults that are part of an online therapy group. Each one has been a victim of demonic possession.

Hymel gives the horror nation a terror ride with this supernatural web series. Though only around a six-minute run time, Words with Friends, spins a satanic satire with a terrific ending twist. Hymel shines with the second episode, which clocks in at around seventeen minutes. Possession films and books are some of the most popular works in the genre. Recovery ventures into new territory by giving the viewer a firsthand account of what happens later in life to those that have been previously possessed. This original take is littered with spooky satire along with fantastic editing that builds to a heart pounding conclusion. Hymel has received a certificate from the Sundance Collaboration for excellence in scriptwriting for horror. These short works exemplify her talent, and the horror nation will keep an eager eye on the future works of this talented artist.
