Sadistic Pleasures is a short film from director SamHel, who has taken his understanding of sex and violence going hand in hand and turned it into a collection of porn/gore films that are interesting studies in the aforementioned correlation of fornication and brutality. The director gives the audience vibes of David Lynch with shades of Axel Braun.
While the film is short, coming in at about 24 minutes or so, SamHel packs a lot into the runtime. The premise is simple, as well. A porn shoot going awry when ritualistic violence and drugs are thrown into the mix. Again, SamHel grabs the audience by the throat and does not let go.
Adult film star Kaiia Eve takes center stage as the unnamed porn actress/victim and turns in a great performance in both her area of expertise as well as traditional acting. SamHel knows where to place a camera and Kaiia Eve knows how to play to it.
Sadistic Pleasures may turn some people away, but it is a great exercise in pitch perfect practical effects and minimalistic story telling.
