A LITERARY WORK OF DARK POETRY AND ART FROM:

JEFF OLIVER DR. CHRIS MCAULEY AND DAN VERKYS

PUBLISHED BY: HELLBOUND BOOKS

Fresh off his sensational and critically acclaimed poetry book VENOMOUS WORDS, Jeff Oliver collaborates with StokerVerse co-creator Dr. Chis Mcauley and celebrated visual artist Dan Verkys to bring the Horror Nation a fresh journey into the flesh of monsters. Coming this fall from Hellbound Books, the terror trio takes readers into the hearts, minds, and souls of beast both old and new. New World Monsters is divided into two main sections. Jeff Oliver explores the fundamental psyche of creatures tormented by their gifts and curses in the first section. Dr. Mcauley foretells a bleak apocalyptic glance into a world plunged into eternal darkness in the second.

“MY HUNGER GROWS STRONGER.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WAIT ANY LONGER.”

This is just two of many fantastic lines of prose Oliver splashes through his sensational section. The dark poet gives empathy to reluctant monsters as well as a metaphysical explanation to their rage. Mary Shelly was one of the first literary artist to describe a monsters’ yearning for love, compassion, and acceptance. At the core of this section of wicked words, Oliver exemplifies the solemn and raging souls of each creature. Each poem is a cry for help that goes unanswered, ultimately unleashing beast upon victim.

“IT SCREAMED FOR ITS DUE.

HUNGRY FOR FLESH AND PASSION.”

One of the most popular sub-genres of horror is that of the apocalypse. Arguably, Dr. Mcauley’s section may be the most eloquently horrific vision of the end of times ever printed. With a dark spiritual base, these poems embrace impending doom from supernatural and humankind monsters alike. From lore of the dark lord to the self-destructive nature of the human condition, these words will rattle the reader to their core. This section of the work is as if Lord Byron wrote the Terminator series.

New World Monsters is a work of dark art unlike any other. Both poets combine to bring forth a waltz through a mesmerizing maze of the macabre. Exasperating the horror is artist Dan Verkys, who takes the imagination of these wicked words and displays them with dark delight. Many poems are followed by a horrifically beautiful visual design that perfectly personifies each prose. The finale of the work is a brilliant collaboration from Oliver and Dr. Mcauley, as they pair up to give the reader a new inside look into an old legend. New World Monsters is the perfect dark road to travel down this Halloween season, filled with twists, turns, and dead ends that beacon to be followed.
