As if the famous Michael Myer’s (actual 1978) house wasn’t hair raising enough, just next door is its equally terrifying neighbor, The SugarMynt Gallery, currently hosting an homage to one of the most influential filmmakers in horror movie history – George A. Romero – and his iconic “Dawn of the Dead” in Pasadena, CA April 8th thru May 31st.

The art show entails multiple walk-thru rooms displaying paintings, drawings, sculptures and set designs in commemoration of the late great George A. Romero and his work. Classics such as Creepshow, Night of the Living Dead, Tales From The Darkside, Day of the Dead and the centerpiece, Dawn of the Dead.

“It’s a celebration of Dawn of the Dead’s 45th birthday, and because there are countless horror fans who love Romero, we’re hoping this show helps people love him even more,” stated Mark Tavares, who, along with his wife Erin Haggerty, serve as curators of the exhibition.

Featured artwork includes Robert Heckman’s “Godfather of the Dead”, Ryan Samuel Carr’s “Roger” and “The Creep”, Bob Lizarraga’s “Lizzie”, Josh Stebbins’ “The Dead Will Walk The Earth”, Winifred Kwan’s “Bub the Zombie”, Lemonsartco’s “Barbara”, Phil Joyce’s “Rhodes End”, Mark Tavares’ ” I See You, Chocolate Man! “, Tom Valente’s “Zombie Romero”, Robbie Rittenhouse’s “Life of an Icon” and Sarah Vulture’s “Meteor Sh**”.

The SugarMynt Gallery is a family owned business located in Pasadena, CA in back of the 1978 Halloween house, showcasing modern and Halloween-themed artwork from both popular and indie artists. The gallery also occupies a “ScareBNB” and a backyard movie screen for indie horror screenings. Contact info@sugarmynt.com for info.
