The zombie sub-genre of horror has known many kings. Romero,Fulci,Sang-Ho and Snyder have all donned the crown. And, much like how mainstream Hollywood is burning and the independent scene is rising from the ashes,The patriarchy of zombie filmmaking is making way for its queens, Brit Sellers and Diana Sellers/Firefly.
The trailer for Blood Brothers:Life Harvest is a prime display of what indie filmmakers can do. Scoffer Studios and all the creative minds involved in Blood Brothers:Life Harvest have taken what would normally be a subplot to huge action set pieces and zero body fat action heroes and are getting ready to deliver unto the horror community a zombie movie with heart and braaaaaaains.
Blood Brothers:Life Harvest tells the story of brothers Enoch and Aaron fighting for survival in the midst of a rabies-like human virus turning people into bloodthirsty zombies flooding the country. Aaron’s and Enoch’s struggle to protect their family becomes complicated as Enoch is bitten and slowly starts to turn. As Aaron fights to save the ones he loves, can he trust the one closest to him?
The trailer is a perfect glimpse of what is to come from Scoffer Studios. The shot composition and the editing are top-notch, rivaling that of trailers for any given horror movie on any given media platform. Bobby Batson and Alex Hohn turn in performances that command the audience’s attention throughout the run time. In fact, every single actor seen on screen delivers the smart and well-structured dialog with fervor and professionalism.
Diana and Brit and the rest of the creative force known as Scoffer Studios are not going to stop with a live action movie, either. Dagon Troll World Chronicles, a dark horror fantasy featuring a cast, highlighting the likes of Tim Curry, Doug Bradley,Bryce Papenbrook and Dark Hoffman. The animation is top-notch and the story of a professional demon slayer is intriguing and makes for a great feature film.
In an age where all eyes are turned towards films that can sell toys and Happy Meals, the film going audience needs to shift their gaze towards Scoffer Studios and others like them.
